Safe Urban Driving


Transport for London (TfL) has developed an accredited Driver CPC course that is designed to promote the safety and sharing of roads with vulnerable road users in London with a particular focus on cyclists.

This workshop is aimed at all drivers of vans and Large Goods Vehicles (LGV) who operate in, or pass through, urban areas.

Cycle Confident Ltd will deliver the course on behalf of TfL. The Course is based on the following four subject areas:

The changing streetscape Vulnerable road users Sharing the road safely Defensive driving techniques and collision avoidance

The specific objectives of the Safe Urban Driving course are:

To increase driver understanding of the issues faced by vulnerable road users To improve driver attitudes to vulnerable road users To change driver behaviour and to give more consideration to the issues faced by vulnerable road users To ultimately reduce the number of collisions and incidents between Large Goods Vehicles and cyclists

Please note drivers will be taken out on bicycles as part of this course.

Please make sure drivers are aware of this before booking them on to the session.

Cycle Confident will supply Bicycles, Helmets and High Viz jackets for this training.

The course must have 16 drivers in order to go ahead. If this number is not met Cycle Confident will have to cancel the course and move bookings to future events.

Please note to attend these courses, drivers must be based in Waltham Forest.

You must request and pay for the Driver CPC upload fee (£9.35) at the time of booking if you need these hours to be uploaded

The course will be taking place in the Pavillion. The ball court in the park can be used for level 1
